Arborvitae Installation in Middletown, KY

November 3, 2025

Fall is a great time of year to plant trees and shrubs in the Louisville area. The major heat of summer is gone, but the soil temperatures are still warm. This gives two benefits to your newly planted tree or shrub - cooler weather is easier on new plant installation while the warm soil still encourages strong root growth.

Newly planted trees and shrubs in the fall don't have to put their energy into growing leaves or blooms so there is more effort dedicated to root development. Less stress and stronger roots means a stronger tree in the spring!

Our customer in Middletown, KY wanted to install Green Emerald Arborvitae in the back area of his backyard. Arborvitae (also known as just "arbs") are hearty shrubs, thrive in our growing zone, and are a great choice if you're trying to build some natural privacy with your landscaping because they come in a variety of sizes and grow quickly.

Your lawn care shouldn't stop at the end of the summer. Fall and winter are critical times for your lawn's overall health and root development.

At WLS, we believe every home deserves to shine and the landscape is an integral part of showcasing your home's natural beauty. Recently, we worked on a property for our long-time customer in Highview, KY where the front shrubs and trees had become overgrown and were hiding the home’s features. The challenge for this particular property included overgrown shrubs blocking walkways and windows, extra foliage crowding the foundation beds, and a general need for reshaping and refreshing the landscape.

Our customer in the Highview area called to get the shrubs around their home trimmed. We trimmed and shaped the hedges in the front of the house below the window sill which maximized the amount of natural sunlight being let into the home. This is especially important during the cooler weather to allow maximum airflow when the windows are open and naturally provide heat to the home's interior.
